About Us


DASTAR is a Non-profit and Non-Governmental Organization, founded in 2010 and registered in January 2012, under Society’s Registration Act, 1860. DASTAR is an indigenous organization working for the poor and voiceless segment of society in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
DASTAR purpose of establishment is neutrality and sincerity. Its work purely for the ultra-poor and socially excluded peoples. Its theme to create a sympathetic environment for the Humanism and respect of human beings, The ultimate step of the organization DASTAR is confidence building in the right holders to face the power of the community and create awareness in its zenith to respect others. The only organization in Nowshera which is work on Human Rights Based Approach (HRBA) to accept the challenges of the community and gets opportunities in their own resources and create exclusive environment for the community.
DASTAR observed the needs of the community to respond the emerging pressing issues face the community at large. The organization starts initiative on self-help basis and organized Free Medical Camps, Distribution of Food and Non-Food items and supports the poor and illiterate in getting Watan Cards for the financial assistance from Government. During Eid gifts were distributed in flood affected children.
DASTAR in co-ordination with other humanitarian organization contributed a lot in the rehabilitation and reconstruction of water supply, education, school and community sanitation & hygiene education, and child protection in the recent flood in KPK and provided water and sanitation facilities along with hygiene education during the emergency period.

Geographic Focus

    • DASTAR explores primarily Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for its development contributions; however it does not restrict itself when it comes to national development. In capacity development, mobilization, and advocacy, geographic focus is national. However, for programmatic interventions, DASTAR has strived to limit itself to central, southern, and northern districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Ex-FATA/Merge District of the province.
    The focused districts include Peshawar, Bunir, Nowshera, Dir (upper and lower), Swat, Shangla, Swabi, Mardan, Kohat, Bunir, Batagram and Torghar. Activities in Ex-FATA/Merge District of the province. are implemented through partners in Khyber, Mohmand, and Kurram district.
